The Redwood Virtuosi are a cooperative of musicians who play regularly with the SF Symphony, SF Opera Orchestra, and SF Ballet Orchestra, coming together to perform chamber music in unusual venues to enrich our Bay Area community.

Former Oregon Symphony violinist Alicia Yang can currently be found performing with renowned ensembles such as the San Francisco Symphony, Philharmonia Baroque, San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Ballet, and the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. She has concertized throughout Europe and the U.S., including with such lauded orchestras as the Kennedy Center Opera, the Seattle Symphony, and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y Leon (Spain). Ms. Yang specializes in historically-informed violin performance and has appeared with period-instrument ensembles across the US, including the Smithsonian Chamber Players, Carmel Bach Festival, and American Bach Soloists. Her training from the Oberlin and New England Conservatories spans genres from Renaissance to contemporary, and she has recorded a contemporary music album on the Opus One label. Ms. Yang enjoys performing with the baroque string band Archetti, playing chamber music with her husband, Amos Yang, Assistant Principal Cellist of the San Francisco Symphony, and spending time with their children, Isabel and Noah

Violist and founder/artistic director of Community Concerts at Epworth, Caroline Lee has performed throughout the US and Canada as an orchestral player as well as a chamber musician and recitalist. She is currently a member of the San Francisco Ballet orchestra and also performs with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony. Before relocating to the Bay Area, Caroline was a member of the Kansas City Symphony for eight years and also performed regularly with the Chicago Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra.. An active chamber musician, she has performed in Banff, Domaine Forget, and the International Musical Arts Festivals, collaborating with members of the Tokyo, Cleveland, and Colorado quartets, as well as artists such as Eric Friedmann, Steve Dann, Richard Stolzman, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Along with her sister Aeri, Caroline formed the Lee duo and performs recitals throughout North America, championing less familiar viola repertoire. Caroline received her bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Michigan and her master’s and Artist Diploma at Yale School of Music.

Joyce Yang, a native of Seoul, Korea, received her Bachelor of Music degree from Hanyang University. She moved to the United States in 2010 to pursue her Master’s degree at Indiana University, where she studied with Eric Kim. She has served as Principal Cellist of the Ballet West Orchestra in Salt Lake City and has performed frequently with the Utah Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, and San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. Joyce has participated in numerous international music festivals, including the Music Masters Course in Japan with Alan Gilbert, the Great Mountain Music Festival, the Kronberg Academy, the Kirishima International Music Festival, and the Euro Music Festival in Leipzig. During that time, she participated in master classes and lessons with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, David Geringas, Gary Hoffman, and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt.

She makes her home in San Francisco, where she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She is also an avid baker, with a special enthusiasm for French pastry
